Meet Michele Cyr, MD - Internist and Women's Health Specialist
When it comes to women's health and nutrition, Dr. Michele Cyr, MD has literally written the book. Co-author of The Complete Book of Menopause: Every Woman's Guide to Good Health, Dr. Cyr constantly dispels the myths about menopause and offers women facts they need to take charge of their own health, now and in years to come. The book was selected by both Prevention and Consumer Reports for their book clubs, and was called "the Bible of menopause" by American Health.
As the recipient of more than 15 postgraduate honors and awards, Dr. Cyr has received more than four million dollars in training and research grants. She has published more than 40 articles, studies and chapters in various books and medical journals, including the Journal of General Internal Medicine. Additionally, she is on the faculty for the Harvard Medical School Primary Care of Women Course for health professionals. Dr. Cyr has been interviewed by various consumer publications, including Redbook, Prevention magazine and Hippocrates, in which she offers advice to women on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle at every age. She has appeared on NBC's Dateline, Lifetime Medical and WBGH-TV's The Group.
Currently Dr. Cyr serves as director of the division of general internal medicine, associate dean for graduate medical education, and associate professor of medicine at Brown University School of Medicine. Dr. Cyr is also director of the division of general internal medicine and the primary care internal medicine residency program at Rhode Island Hospital.
After graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with an art and biochemistry degree from Bowdoin College, Dr. Cyr earned her medical degree with honors from Dartmouth Medical School. She completed her internship and residency at Maine Medical Center, and has attended training programs at both Stanford and Harvard Universities.
